Red for hot, blue for cold; pex system in wall

We saw three sites in Whistler Thursday 16th. A NetZero house with PV, HRV and a solid envelope. A construction site of three Structural Insulated Panel houses in various stages of construction. And a very swanky Rammed Earth home.

It was neat to be able to see the houses being constructed using the SIP panels. These lead to a tighter house, better insulation, and faster construction times. More on that later.

One key thing I saw on the SIP houses, which does not affect its Eco status is that the cold water was piped with blue hose and the hot was piped with red hose. Sounds insignificant, but for those of us who have done many, many renovations, coloring the pipes is brilliant!
